We are currently accepting applications for the 2013/2014 class year. The application deadline is May 15. The purpose of the Youth Leadership Pensacola selection process is to choose a class of 6 participants from each participating high school, who are in the 9th and 10th grades during the application process and who will participate in Youth Leadership Pensacola as high school sophomores and juniors. A positive learning environment will be created through the Youth LeaP curriculum.

Open to Escambia County and Santa Rosa School District Sophomores and Junior

The class will have the opportunity to become educated on various local issues, exchange ideas and enhance their leadership skills. The selection process seeks a cross-section of the community – male and female students from different political, social and cultural backgrounds. The students program fees are paid by the Leadership Pensacola Alumni.

Students from participating high school will be selected by a review committee using the following criteria:

Minimum 3.0 weighted GPA
Leadership, both demonstrated and potential
Motivation for participation in the program
Have been identified by school administrators or other community leaders as having leadership potential and a willingness to commit the time and energy necessary to complete the program
Are interested in networking with other local high school teens outside their own high school
Are most qualified to utilize their leadership skills through community service for the long-term benefit of the community
Are interested in the cultural diversity of our community, learning about our quality of life and want to help identify ways to improve it

Complete the 2013/2014 online application and submit it by May 15 to our administration partner, Chain Reaction. No applications will be accepted after this deadline! Applications are confidentially reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of community leaders. Applicants are notified in June of class selection. Fifty class members are chosen for each class. Since class size is limited, the selection process is competitive.

Every effort is made to reflect the cultural and ethnic richness of the community to achieve a balanced representation of the community.

The selected students and alternates, if any, will then be notified in writing that they have been chosen. Those students not selected will also be notified. Prior to August, the selected students will be provided a schedule of class events and will be advised of the attendance policies for the program. An orientation session will be required for all students prior to their participation in Youth Leadership Pensacola. Students not in attendance at Orientation will be replaced by alternate candidates.
